St. Andrew is one of the most popular patron saints and is selected as a confirmation name making these statues a very popular gift choice.
Andrew and his brother Peter were both fishermen. Andrew met Jesus and recognized Him as the Messiah. He was willing to leave everything behind to follow Jesus and he called Peter to also join them.
The brothers were to become great “fishers of men” as the early leaders of the Church. Andrew died by crucifixion in Greece.
Saint Andrew's feast day is November 30th. He is the patron saint of Scotland, fishermen, singers, miners, pregnant women, butchers, farm workers, protection against sore throats, convulsions, and fever.
