The Our Lady of the Rosary statues are indeed special! In 1571, all of Europe was threatened by the Ottoman dominance of the Mediterranean Sea. The pope called for a Holy League to come forth in battle. The League prayed the rosary and credited their amazing victory to the Blessed Mother. Pope Pius V then proclaimed a feast to honor “Our Lady of Victory.” This feast has later renamed the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7. When Mary appeared to the children of Fatima she called for a renewal of the rosary prayer and told the children, “I am the Lady of the Rosary.”
