The motif of this antique bronze is rooted in Greek mythology. This erotic nude depicts a naked faun who has sex with a goat that is lying on its back. The faun holds onto the goat's front legs while he penetrates it. Both look into each other's eyes. This depiction seems to want to be evocative of human sex. Versions of this erotic figurine are part of the collections of both the British Museum as well as the Naples Museum. In the museum of Naples, a whole room was dedicated to this exhibit, and minors under the age of 14 are only allowed inside when escorted by an adult.
