"Angel of the Resurrection" Commemorating the 1,307 Pennsylvania Railroad employees who died in World War II, the memorial portrays the Archangel, Michael, lifting a dead soldier from the "flames of war." During medieval times the Catholic Church chose Michael to be the patron of the military. As a patron saint, he was an advocate and intercessor to God on behalf of the military.
